He is survived by: his wife Deborah Pieper (Shugrue); his children, Jack Shanahan (Pieper) of Terryville and Carolyn Pieper (Nicholas Dixey) of Winsted; his grandchildren, Miles and Hazel Dixey; his sister-in-law Pamela Bochicchio (Bill) of Watertown; his sibling's children, Beverly Chang (Hyunjin) of Burlington and Eric Strassner (Jackie) of Idaho; and his close friend John Burns of West Hartford.
