He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Avery and Vera Jasienowski; his brothers, Paul, Robert and David; and his sibling-in-law Rosaleen Avery.
He is survived by: his siblings, Arthur, Pat, Everett, Barbara, Vivian and Joyce; his sons, Christopher Avery (Lori) and Jason Avery (Lonnie); his stepchildren, Caolan Scott (Kristen) and Conor Scott (Laura); and his grandchildren, Camryn Avery, Sarah Avery, Evan Avery, Brayden Scott, Cayce Scott, Shayne Scott, Abigail Scott and Riley Scott.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lyons Funeral Home (46 High St, Thomaston, CT 06787). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the State Veterans Cemetery (317 Bow Ln, Middletown, CT 06457).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital, in New Haven, CT.
