Karen will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Karen by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Karen is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Karen’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Ruhanen and Sigrid Ruhanen; her brother Vassil Ruhanen; and her sister-in-law Nancy Casarin. She is survived by: her husband Joseph; her children, Joseph of Saco, ME and Patricia; her son-in-law Shawn of Shelton, CT; her sister Patricia Ruhanen of Stratford, CT; and her brother-in-law John Casarin of Archbald, PA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (1101 Willow St, Peckville, PA 18452).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Connecticut Foodshare, or your local Food Bank.
