He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Hunter and Florence Hunter (Kubeck). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Hunter (Ives); his children, Kathleen P. Hunter of Wallingford and James G. Hunter (Katherine) of Portland; and his grandchildren, Erin, Toby and William Hunter.
Before the pandemic he'd spend his weekends bargain hunting at the Redwood Flea Market, asking sellers his signature phrase "Is that the best you can do?".
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations be made to Franciscan Home & Hospice Care of Meriden.
