He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Ross and Coreen Coughlin Ross; and his brother John "Jack" Francis Ross of Hancock, VT.. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Marge; his brother Clinton Ross (Lucille) of Wallingford; his children, Mary Gagliardi, James Ross (Katie) and Kathy Filkens (Charley); and his grandchildren, Jimmy, Connor, Lia and Ellerie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was a recipient of the Wallingford Education Foundation's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016.
