Harry Adolf Lyga Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce our beloved father, Harry Adolf Lyga, 78, of Connecticut, passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, June 16, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, CT with his family by his side. Harry was born November 1, 1946 in Waterbury, CT. Harry is the oldest son of the late Harry Peter Lyga and Elizabeth Zeleznick Lyga of Thomaston, CT. Harry attended the University of Connecticut and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a BS in Mechanical Engineering which he utilized being the owner of his father's and his company, Eastern Manufacturing Company, Thomaston, CT. Harry will always remember the day he was drafted into the U.S. military and served our country as a cook for a short period of time in the U.S. Army. Harry always tried his best to live in memory of his family. Dad always took great pride in what he produced, manufactured and accomplished.

Harry and his late wife, Antonina (Tonia) Berezecky Lyga were married for over 25+ years before Tonia’s passing. Harry is survived by his daughters, Lauren Lyga and Tatiana Lyga of Chelsea, MA, sisters, Joanne Lytle, and her husband Frank Lytle of Huron, OH, Elizabeth Cerwinka, and her husband Michael Cerwinka of Windsor, CO, and sister Donna Lyga of Thomaston, 3 nephews, a niece, a grandson, a great nephew, a cousin and family dogs. Harry joins spiritually his wife, his parents, his family, his son, Paul Alexander Lyga of Thomaston, his brother, Peter Lyga of Terryville, nephew, Mark Lytle of Huron, OH and his grandfather, Adolf Zeleznick.

Harry lived a rich, full life. There was no one more dedicated to watching his children and grandson play sports and other activities. No one was prouder of them and their success. Harry cherished the time spent with his family watching sports on TV. There was no better feeling than being there to watch the live play. Harry loved basketball, baseball, football, ice hockey, fishing, trap shooting and horse racing. He was passionate about getting together with his family and friends to celebrate life.

Harry always valued and cherished being a member of the 1962 Thomaston Bear’s Men’s Basketball Team as they won the Class (S) State Championship for Connecticut.

A special thanks for his friends, John and Bernadette Krayeski, Bill and Gail Morton, Dan Ellis, Crystal Doyle and Paul Pelkey. Please always remember Harry in your thoughts and prayers.
