He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas McDonald and Catherine McDonald (Donahue); and his siblings, Timothy McDonald, Thomas McDonald and Ann Ellis.

He is survived by: his sons, Ryan, Colin and Brendan McDonald of Waterbury; his former wife Denise McDonald of Waterbury; his siblings, Cathleen McDonald of South Portland and Edward McDonald (Mary) of Southbury; and his sisters-in-law, Nadine McDonald of Waterbury and Cheryl McDonald of Naugatuck. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
