He is survived by: his stepfather Robert Walter Sr.; his wife Dianna Hunter Stenson Parrish; his daughter Jacquline Gilmore of North Carolina; his stepson Marvin Stenson Sr.; his niece LaTara Heminway; his siblings, Robert Walter Jr. of North Carolina, Major Walter of North Carolina, Charlie Walter of North Carolina, Michel Walter of North Carolina, Aaron Dunn of North Carolina, Harry Walter of Portland, Oregon, Mary Cates of New Jersey, Doris A. Dunn of Nevada, Pam Caesar, Shirley Walters, Patricia Perry and Carolyn Dianna Smith; and his stepsister Lisa Smily of North Carolina. He is also survived by grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
