He was predeceased by: his parents, Faustino Vargas and Ramona Vargas (Cordero); his daughter Nitza Latorre; and his brothers, Jose Manuel "Memen" Vargas and Faustino "Tino" Vargas.
He is survived by: his wife Irma Rodriguez Vargas (Rodriguez); his children, Marilynn Gibson (Darrel) of Southington and Rafael Vargas Jr. (Lynn Davino) of Southington; his son-in-law Jose Latorre of Trumbull; his grandchildren, Isabella, Natalia, Aiyanna, Finn, Ty, Alani, Jake and Zoey; his sisters, Sara Vargas and Blanca Vargas; and his compadres, Adalberto "Tutin" Acosta and Miguel Rodriguez. He is also survived by many extended family members, friends.
