Robert Montovani Obituary

MONTOVANI: Robert W. Montovani, C.P.A., of Waterford and formerly of East Hartford, beloved husband of Sheila Chappell Montovani, passed away on May 12, 2026, with family by his side. Robert was the son of the late Edward and Olive Montovani.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, Robert returned to East Hartford. He graduated from CCSU and was a founding member of MMNT LLC, CPAs of Manchester, CT. He served his community by volunteering at the YMCA, East Hartford Community Health, the Bank of South Windsor Advisory Board, and Main Street Plus. Robert also enjoyed coaching soccer for the East Hartford Parks and Recreation Department.

Besides his loving wife, Sheila, he is survived by three children: Neil and Tara Montovani of Fort Mill, SC; Christine and Angel Ayala of South Windsor, CT; and Jon and Mary Montovani of Philadelphia, PA. He leaves his grandchildren, Christopher, Damian, Gianna, Bridget, Grace, Sean, Dean, and Max.

His brothers, Edward (Joan, predeceased) and Richard (Kathy Montovani), were an important part of this close family. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Stafford Chappell (Dale), and Ronald Sachatello (Ginny, predeceased).

Robert would like to thank his team at the VA and the Winchester Lung Clinic. He will certainly miss the Friday night happy hours and beach activities with his good friends at Pleasure Beach in Waterford, CT, and Pelican Bay in Naples, FL.

Family and friends may gather for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on May 18, 2026, at St. Paul Church, 170 Rope Ferry Rd., Waterford, CT. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
