She was predeceased by: her husband Robert F. Van Buren; her parents, Fred Smart and Edith Gagnon; and her siblings, Armel Smart, Claud Smart, Louis Vaillancourt, Rene Vaillancourt, Alvin Smart, Irene Ramo and Cora Roucoulet.

She is survived by: her daughters, Darlene Roman (late Marshall) of Watertown and Cynthia Emmons (Clifford) of Dennis, MA; her grandchildren, Kelly Roman, Scott Berglund (Kristy) and Erin Hallock (Tony); her great grandchildren, Latrell, Brianna, Evan, Emily, Archer and Conner; and her sister Cecile Plawecki. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
