It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carl August Merz of West Hartford, Connecticut, who passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Carl may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl William Merz and Mary Merz. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Newton Merz; his children, Carl F. Merz (Tara Ceil Merz) of West Hartford, CT and Susan Merz Cambio (James Cambio) of Coventry, RI; and his friend Frances Milewski. He is also survived by many cousins; and numerous dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home (1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford, CT 06110). A prayer will be held on Saturday, January 10th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
