He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles E. Gunning, and Margaret Callahan Gunning, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Carol Prior Gunning; his children, Kelly Mastroni (Ken), Patricia Marques (Paul) and Timothy Gunning (Kate); his grandchildren, Daniel, Kyle Mastroni, Charlotte, Ryan Marques, Molly, Finley and Charlie Gunning; and his sisters, Elizabeth Gunning (Betty) and Anne Fregeau (Tom).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the West Haven Funeral Home (662 Savin Ave, West Haven, CT 06516). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Of St. John Xxiii Parish (300 Captain Thomas Blvd, West Haven, CT 06516).
