She was predeceased by : her granddaughter KuiRa Carr; and her siblings, Iris Lopez, Alejandro "Cuco" Guzman, Geraldo Guzman and Juan Diaz.

She is survived by : her children, Eva Cruz (Lisa) of New Haven, Alexander Ortiz (Maribel) of New Haven, Sonia Cruz of South Carolina, Wanda Carr (Samuel) of South Carolina and Miguel Ortiz of South Carolina; and her siblings, Omayra, Minerva, Wilson and Joseph. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
