He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Mitchell, and Darris Mitchell, Sr. (Welch); his wife Ruby Lee Mitchell; his daughters, Clara Bell Williams and Emma Mitchell; his siblings, William, George, Oscar, Otis Mitchell, Bertha Hollis and Clara Noble; and his siblings-in-law, Emma Stigler, Bobbie Vassar, James and Harold Stigler.
He is survived by: his son-in-law Robert; his children, Mary Spruell (Robert), Marvin III (Briana), Georgia Mitchell and Doris Mitchell; and his sisters, Stella Hunter and Martha Mitchell. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
