He was predeceased by: his sister Bernadette; and his former wife Penelope Thompson Leach. He is survived by: his wife Denise Wright Merrill; his sons, Edward Leach and Dr. William Leach; his children-in-law, Sereen and Anna; his stepchildren, Nicole, Alex and Nathaniel; his sister-in-law Josephine Thompson; his niece Naomi Thompson; his great-nephew Ruben Samuel Thompson-Carr; and his nieces, Bernadette, Maggie, Bridget, Anne Marie (Roger Leach) and England.
