Betty Jo Corridon Obituary
Betty Jo Corridon passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at The Greens in Wilton. Born in West Haven, CT, the daughter of the late Austin and Jean (Cody) Sullivan, she was predeceased by her first husband Warren "Chick" Ferriter and sister Julie Ellen Busher.
She attended University of Rhode Island where she met her first husband Warren (Chick) on a blind date and earned her master's degree in education from Bridgeport University and worked in the Wilton Public School system for over 35 years where Miller School became her second family.
Betty Jo's third family were all the friends she made at Shore and Country Club in Norwalk, CT where she enjoyed tennis and bridge. It is from her time there that she knew and reconnected with James (Jim) Corridon and started to date and then marry after their spouses passed away and went on to enjoy twenty-three years of marriage.
After retirement Betty Jo remained active in her volunteering in Wilton at the Turnover Shop, Social Services and giving out communion at the Greens in Wilton.
Betty Jo's daughters will remember her as a loving mother who used to say she was a mother who raised triplets as her daughter Christine was fifteen months old when she had a set of twin daughters; Beth and Karen. The close bond between Betty Jo and her daughters was Betty Jo's joy, lifeline and support for her and her daughters.
Betty Jo's health struggles at the end of her life endured with her feisty attitude, games of solitaire and appreciation for everyone's kindness to her and her wonderful health aids from Preferred Care in Wilton that provided the care and dignity to manage the relentless symptoms and challenges from Alzheimer's.
Betty Jo is survived by her husband of twenty-three years, James Corridon; children Christine Hanington, Karen Smith (Read) and Beth Klukojc (John) and grandchildren; Jack Hanington, Thomas Hanington, Molly Hanington, Eddie Klukojc, Michael Klukojc, Ashley Smith, and Austin Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved Aunt Julie (Sullivan) Zamrowski, and sister Julie-Ellen Busher and her husband of thirty-four years, Warren Joseph Ferriter (1938-1985).
Her family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Monday, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 239 Danbury Rd, Wilton, with burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Wilton CT.
