As we bid adieu to Florence's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Florence has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruth Hanlon (Cleaveland) and Joseph D. Hanlon; her husband John Hayes of Redding; and her son Brian. She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Kate Hayes of Redding and Sheila Goffe (Hayes) of Smithfield; her grandson Patrick Hayes of Dania Beach; and her brother John F. Hanlon of North Canaan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bouton Funeral Home (31 W Church St, Wilton, CT 06897). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, January 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick Church (169 Black Rock Tpke, Redding, CT 06896).
Contributions may be made, In lieu of flowers, to St. Patrick Church, Redding or to the Dorothy Day Hospitality House.
