Marie Beltrami Obituary

Marie Beltrami (née Bozzuti) of Wilton, Connecticut passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Marie was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, sister-in-law, loyal friend, and benefactor to many. Joyful and generous, Marie was both deeply connected and fiercely independent right to the end.

A native New Yorker, Marie was a career banker with Chase Manhattan, having started as a teller in the early 1960's and retiring in the early 1990's, as the bank's first female vice president. In retirement, Marie served as a comptroller for Marvel Comics for several years and as Director of After School Programs at Our Lady of Fatima School in Wilton. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish.

Marie was pre-deceased by her parents, George and Mary (Cirillo) Bozzuti, her loving brother, Anthony and her beloved husband, Pio Beltrami. Marie and Pio were inseparable from the time they met and spent 25 wonderful years together, until his passing in 2007. Marie and her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bozzuti, remained faithful companions.

Marie is survived by her son Nicholas, nephews and nieces George Bozzuti (Tracie), Kathy Bozzuti-Jones (Mark), Mary Bozzuti Higgins (Jory), and Anthony Bozzuti (Evie) as well as grandnieces and nephew, Margaret, Katherine, Caraline, Katie, Sheila, Abigail, Mary Ellen, Emory and Mark Anthony.

Marie always put family first, showing up for countless recitals, plays, birthdays, showers, commencements and other celebrations over the decades. She was an outstanding cook; Marie's signature family dishes were always excellent, and it was her custom to prepare a minimum of two or three times as much as needed for every family gathering, just in case.

If Marie had a hobby, it was her keen interest in people, and she had many friends who will undoubtedly remember her, as we all will, for her wit, charm, grace, candor, giant heart, easy laughter, and respect for all, whether she agreed with you or not. One of her favorite sayings was, "No one is below me and no one is above me" and she lived by that code.

The stories and memories of Marie abound; she had a life very well-lived. Marie continued the family legacy of integrity, kindness and tolerance, inspiring the same in all who knew her. The song has ended but the music plays on. Rest in peace Marie.

Your spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

A celebration of Marie's life will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton with her Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 AM on Friday, October 31. The family will receive friends there, from 10 AM until the Mass begins.
