He was predeceased by : his parents, Michael T. Basil and Margaret Basil (Boyle); his wife Joyce Basil (Marino); and his brother James V. Basil. He is survived by : his sons, Jason D. Basil (Christine) of Templeton, MA and Marc D. Basil (Alexandra) of Southbury, CT; his siblings, Donald E. Basil (Mary) of Waterbury and Linda Branscum of Sandusky, OH; his half-brother Michael Basil (Diane) of Thomaston; his grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Matthew, Luca and Josie Basil; and his siblings-in-law, Diana Garofalo (Alfred) of Waterbury, Marlene Lorusso (Tony) of Southington and Joe Marino (Donna) of Waterbury. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM at the Chase Parkway Memorial (430 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury, CT 06708). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at 9:15 AM at the Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home (430 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury, CT 06708). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church (430 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury, CT 06708). A burial was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Calvary Cemetery (2324 E Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705).
