He was predeceased by: his parents, James Begley and Nancy Begley (Panasci); his sister Barbara Gagliardi (William Gagliardi); and his nieces and nephews, William Gagliardi and Nancie Guillet.

He is survived by: his wife Doris Begley (Laferriere) of Wolcott; his children, John Begley Jr. (Karen) of Harwinton and Lori Vaccarelli (Anthony) of Wolcott; his grandchildren, Angelina, Anthony Vaccarelli of Wolcott and Julia Begley of Harwinton; his brother James Begley (Ann) of Wolcott; and his mother-in-law Rolande Lannon of Wolcott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
