Anthony Marrella Obituary
Anthony Marrella, 95, of Woodbridge, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, at home, surrounded by family. He was born on April 2, 1931, the only child of Italian-born parents, and grew up on Arthur Avenue in the heart of the Bronx's Little Italy. Tony developed a strong work ethic at a young age, as he helped support his family when his father became disabled.
Broker until age 93, and many of his long-standing clients continued to reach out to him for advice, guidance and friendship. When he was well into his eighth decade, he recognized the need for a social gathering opportunity for senior men who, like himself, were interested in continuing to expand their horizons through listening to the experiences of others. Thus was born the Retired Men's Club of Pelham, of which Tony was a co-founder. The success and longevity of the club remains one of his proudest accomplishments. In 2014, after 59 years of marriage, Sue lost her battle with cancer. Tony was heartbroken, but through the guidance of the OLPH bereavement group and his own strong faith, he found the will to live and to continue to be a guiding light for his family. He is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Didier Bourgois), a son John (Amey Winterer), and a grandson, Nicholas Politi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Anthony's name to the charity of their choice. A wake will be held on May 11, 2026 at Lloyd-Maxcy Funeral Home in New Rochelle, and a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Pelham Manor on May 12.
