She was predeceased by: her parents, Edna Bean and Rodney Bean; and her husband Arthur Birney. She is survived by: her sons, Lex, Rodney and Charlie; her grandchildren, Helen, Alaina, Taran, Isabel and Dion; and her great grandchildren, Lexi and Jillian.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Vassar College in Alison's name.
