She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Burden Pettiford Ferguson and George Alonzo Ferguson Sr.; and her siblings, Roger W. Ferguson Sr., Thelma F. Jordan, Mary F. Smith and Dr. George A. Ferguson, Jr..
She is survived by: her former husband Charles M. Cabaniss, MD; her aunts, Ann and GiGi (Grannie Annie); her sister Carole F. Howard of Cheverly, Maryland.; her daughters, Carla Victoria Cabaniss and Caryn Cabaniss Mudd; her son-in-law Richard David Mudd; her grandchildren, Grant David Ward, Jr. (Amy McHale Ward), Natalie Marie Ward and Charles Cabaniss Ward; her great grandchildren, Brooklyn Mudd and Mason James McHale-Ward; and her godchildren, Cheryl Davies Jones and John Davies Jr. (Bucky, Jr.). She is also survived by family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Dunbarton Chapel, Howard University Law School (2900 Van Ness St NW, Washington, DC 20008). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, January 24th 2026 at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery (3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722).
