She was predeceased by: her brothers, Carl and Gary. She is survived by: her daughters, Saoirse Mishler Staub (Sheri), Kelly Mishler Akerley and Summer Rae Garcia; her granddaughters, Lina and Etta; and her sisters, Ginny Monroe (Moore) and Susie Moore.
Carol chose to donate her body to the University of South Florida's Forensic Science program to advance science. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Democratic National Committee.
