She was predeceased by: her parents, Verner Earls and Parthena Gilbert; and her son Gene Lortie. She is survived by: her children, Tim Lortie (Karla), Donald Lortie Jr. (Karyn), Janet Lortie Lavorgna (Vinny) and Jennifer Lortie Peters (Paul); her half-brother Verner Earls Jr.; her stepson Fred Thornley (Susan); her grandchildren, Emily Djindjiev (Mahmoud), Erin Lortie, Matthew Lortie, Tessa Lavorgna, Jeremy Lavorgna, Terrance Peters Fables (Emma) and Corey Peters; her great grandchildren, Madelyn and Teddy Djindjiev; and her significant other J. Albert Mastro.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Dee's memory to Common Sense for Animals, a pet rescue organization in Washington, NJ.
