With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Cosgrove Phillips of Washington, District of Columbia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 18, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia Boyle Phillips; and his siblings, Helen P. Joram and Lidwine P. Battista. He is survived by: his children, John R. Phillips (Theresa) of Stanardsville, VA and Kathryn P. Kennelly (Patrick) of Washington, D. C.; his grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Luke, Jesse, Gavin and Virginia Sage; and his great grandchild Atlas.

Visitation was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Ann's Catholic Church (4001 Yuma St NW, Washington, DC 20016). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
