In the sacred silence of farewell, John is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that John's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He is survived by: his son John W. Hodge III (Kelley); his siblings, Bessie Groomes and Larry Hodge, Sr.; his stepchildren, Pearl Suydan, DeLois Seaton and Isiah Dillard; and his grandson Grant Hodge. He is also survived by step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Brightwood Park United Methodist Church (744 Jefferson St NW, Washington, DC 20011). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at the Rock Creek Cemetery (201 Allison St NW, Washington, DC 20011).
