He was predeceased by: his mother Sigrun Naujoks Schwendinger; his grandparents, Gertrude, Herbert Naujoks, Helene and Karl Schwendinger; and his father-in-law Robert John Leonard.
He is survived by: his sons, Sigrun Dagmar Naujoks Schwendinger and Charles Walter Schwendinger of Potomac; his wife Ann Leonard Schwendinger (Annie); his children, William Robert, Audrey Jane and Graham Evins Schwendinger of Washington, DC; his father Charles Walter Schwendinger of Potomac, MD; his brothers, Robert Charles Schwendinger (Jacki) of Great Falls, VA and Stephen Mark Schwendinger (Britt) of Gaithersburg, MD; his mother-in-law Jane Evins Leonard of Washington, DC; and his siblings-in-law, John Joseph Leonard (Pamela) of Brentwood, TN, Jed William Leonard (Allison) of Bethesda, MD and Jessamyn Eliza Leonard (Adam Michonski) of Washington, DC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends and co-workers.
