We are sad to announce that on January 19, 2026, at the age of 61, Randy Lee Phelps in Washington, District of Columbia, born in Painesville, Ohio passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilmer and Gertrude; his brother Gregg Phelps; and his grandparents, George and Belle Phelps (Kevin Stebbins).

He is survived by: his aunt Jeannine Barstow; his cousins, Bonnie Crim (Joe) and Alan Helsius; his sister-in-law Rose Geiser; his nephew Geoff Phelps; and his friends, Aram Mazmanian, Madeleine Konig, Oscar Mazmanian and Eleanor Mazmanian.

During his career at the National Science Foundation, Randy made significant contributions to the advancement of astronomical research.
