She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Covington and Delores Covington; and her husband Donald Preston Hayes. She is survived by: her children, Charles Covington, Donna Hayes, Lois "Gina" Parks Darlene (Roc), Linda Hayes and Karen Hayes; her grandchildren, Jerome Jones, Jr., Donell Hayes Yanicia Dixon (Adrianne), Demetrius Hayes Charles Rice (LaDonna), Shakita Harper, Jaleesa Harper, Ronnell Lee and Tamara Benbow; her nieces and nephews, Lynn Ervin and Wayne Hayes; her cousins, Roy Jr., Vannie Mae, Freddie V and Gracie; her goddaughters, Angie Buchanan and Deborah Dessaso; and her caregiver Marvaline Draper. She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren.
