We announce the death of Theresa Ann Brooks (Washington, District of Columbia), who passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 81. Theresa Ann will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Seretha Mae Turner and Ellsworth Carter; her husband Lawrence Garrison; her stepfather Leon Turner Sr.; her sisters, Alma Johnson and Gloria Jean Hodges; and her close friend Vernice Bunting.
She is survived by: her aunt Augusta Lee Hankerson; her children, Church of Children's Sunday School, TeCresa "Cree" Majette, Christine Majette (Brooks), Emmanuel "Mann" Brooks, Vonzella Hubbard (Michael), Lawrence "Lanier" Garrison, Shavery Garrison (Angela) and Travis Garrison; her grandchildren, TeCresa "Cree" Majette, Tiffany "Tiff" Majette, Emmanuel Brooks Jr. and Emmanuel Hubbard; her great grandchildren, Brooklynn "Brook" Majette, Ezra Hubbard and Eli Hubbard; her goddaughters, Wanda Jones and Angele Rogers; her siblings, Leon Turner (Yvonne), Francis Turner (LaVetta), Sydney Turner (Renee), Allen Turner, Margaret Purcell (William), Virginia Brownlow and Charles "Charlie'Hankerson; her pets, Harlem and KolaBear; Ezell Hankerson. She is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews, a host of great & great-grand nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, spiritual sons and daughters.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cross Church of Christ (1800 Hazelwood Dr, Capitol Heights, MD 20743). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
