With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Wayne Smith (Washington, District of Columbia), born in Winchester, Massachusetts, who passed away on June 6, 2024 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Wayne may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Wayne touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his father Wayne. He is survived by: his husband Don Schimanski; and his son Qwan Schimanski Smith.
From 1975 to 1987, Wayne made significant contributions to the U.S. House Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries and was Chief of Staff to Congressman and Senator John Breaux.
