He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Lewis and Gertrude Lewis; and his wife Catherine Lewis. He is also survived by four children, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his name to Mt. Cuba Astronomical Observatory.
