We announce the death of Otas Edward Cephas Jr. (Bridgeville, Delaware), born in Seaford, Delaware, who passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 54. He was predeceased by: his parents, Otas Edward Cephas, Sr. and Inez Bush Cephas; his grandparents, John, Alberta Cephas, Marion Bush and Luereather Bush; his sister Ovon Jernigan; and his aunt Ernestine Bush.
He is survived by: his wife Ebony Cephas; his daughters, Shakyra Cephas of Millersville, Khia Cephas of Wilmington and Shakaylah Cephas of Magnolia, Delaware; his granddaughter Lyriq Cephas of Wilmington, Delaware; his son Thomas Burton of Magnolia, Delaware; his stepchildren, Raiquan Deshields and Tamaijah Deshields; his sisters, Otisia Howell (Emory) of Houston and Otasia Cephas (Donzell) of Newark, Delaware; his aunts, Cathy Smith (Charles) of New Castle and Pandora Bush of Georgetown, Delaware; his uncle Horace Odom (Dejuanna) of Syracuse; his cousins, Charles J. Smith of New Castle, England, Steve Smith of Magnolia, Delaware, Devin Smith (Danielle) of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, Cheryl Bush of Georgetown, Delaware and Godsister Sabrina Horsey of Seaford, Delaware.; his brothers, Alan Cephas and Bo Paskins; his aunts, Erethia Smith and Elsie Glover; and his uncle Lemmuel Glover. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Williams Chapel Church (491 N Cannon St, Bridgeville, DE 19933). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
