James left this world on October 26, 2025 at the age of 72, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, John James Filan and Rita Crail; and his brother John Filan. He is survived by: his wife Annunciata "Nancy" Filan; his daughters, Maryann Austin (Bob), Jessica Chun (Andy), Jeanine Begatto (Christopher) and Tina Davis; his grandchildren, Brooks, Christopher, Nicolas and Sofia; his siblings, Kathleen Reed (Michael), Penny Eby (Tony), Peter Filan (Karen) and Meg Dzedzy (Don); his sister-in-law Dorothy; and his friends, Kevin Emmell and Doug Hendricks.

Flowers are appreciated along with donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
