She was predeceased by: her parents, Avery Shockley and Mary Shockley (Phillips); her husband Robert D. Christopherson; her son Charles Layfield; and her siblings, Avery, Melvin, Morris, Eddie Shockley, Emma Austin, Peggy Robertson and Barbara Workman.

She is survived by: her children, Ruth Wolfgang (Edwin "PeeWee), Peggy Adams (Sonny), Ernest Layfield and William Layfield; her grandchildren, Robbie Layfield, Chris Layfield, Billy Layfield, Lori Baylis, Scott Adams, Wendy Carey, Michael Wolfgang, Kimmy Wolfgang and Russell Wolfgang; and her siblings, Richard Shockley and Rachel McHone. She is also survived by several great grandchildren.
