He was predeceased by: his mother Ada Kalnoske Smisson; and his son Stephen Christopher Smisson. He is survived by: his wife Hsiao-Huei "Carol" Smisson of Dover; his children, Burton Thomas Smisson (Adrienne) of Raleigh, NC and Cassandra Smisson Hayes (Cody) of Houston, TX; his sister Mary Smisson Wagner of Gray, GA; and his grandchildren, Makena and Olivia.
