He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Daniel Biter Sr. and Mary Bolan Biter; and his siblings, George Durney, Mary Ann Craver and Cleon Biter.

He is survived by: his wife Alice Marie Mood of Smyrna, DE.; his children, Ann Marie Flood (James), Stephen Biter (Katrina), Kathleen Kosior (Richard) and Carol Bryson (Rick); his grandchildren, James Flood IV, Julia Flood (Adam McGuire), Michael Kosior, Margaret Kosior, Nicholas Kosior, Sarah Bryson and Matthew Bryson Jr.; his great grandchild Johanna McGuire; and his sister Isabelle Gonya.
