He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Akin and Catherine Akin (Ray); and his siblings, Jeane Cummerford and Lester Ray. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Reed Akin; his sisters, Agnes Benson of Cecilton and Aileen Burris of Warwick; his daughter Virginia Akin Sylvester (Bruce) of Middletown; and his stepdaughters, Cheryl Brennan Dover (Matt), Tracy Hardy Newark (Grant) and Carol Alfree Clayton (David). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
