He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Johnson and Mary Johnson; his wife Helen Johnson (Sammons); his siblings, Jimmy, Woody, Winona, Joan, Dottie, Anna B and Mary of Virginia; and his godson Donnie Johnson.

He is survived by: his children, Jackie Jr. (Debbie) of Dover, Peggy Ridgeway (Chris) of Dover, Frank (Susie) of Dover and Gregory of Dover; his sister Sandra Coker of Dover; his sister-in-law Connie Johnson; his grandchildren, Gordon (Katie), Jennifer, Billy (Carrie), Megan (Nick), Christopher (Wendy), Shawn (Mandy), Frankie, Travis (Jenitza), Nicky (Bobby), Daniel (Britani) and Gregory Jr.; and his goddaughter Tammy Mosley. He is also survived by 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Immanuel Union United Methodist Church.
