He was predeceased by: his former spouse Severn, MD; his wife Carol Kurzontkowski; his parents, Rita Kurzontkowski and Ludwig Kurzontkowski; his brothers, John and David Kurzontkowski; and his brother-in-law William Gouin.

He is survived by: his children, Alan Kurzontkowski and Sara Pritchett; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew Kurzontkowski, Paige, Taylor and Jordan Pritchett; his sisters, Joanne Gouin and Mary Byrnes; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Byrnes, Gene, Lynne Goodlett and Diane Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in James' honor.
