He was predeceased by: his father James Medford Starkey, Sr.; his wife Anna Mae Starkey; and his sister Eleanor Nickerson. He is survived by: his children, Ruby Lee Schaffer (Bill) of Dover, DE, D. Wayne Starkey (Barbara) of Milford, DE and J. Gary Starkey (Dottie) of Dover, DE; his grandson Marc Schaffer of Portland, OR; his children, Stacy Howard of Middletown, DE, Samantha Melvin of Georgetown, DE, Kathy Herd of Milford, DE, Bobbi Jacona of Lewes, DE, Jonathan Starkey of Middletown, DE and Jimmy Starkey of Middletown, DE; his siblings, Wyatt Starkey (Pat) of Sudlersville, MD and Joyce Hurley (Bill) of Chestertown, MD.; and his close friend Gilbert Hutchins. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 5 nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, Delaware.
