James left this world on July 30, 2025 at the age of 78, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles David Hackney and Dorothy Lee Hackney; his wife June; and his brother David "Lee" Hackney. He is survived by: his children, Shannon Hackney of Dover, DE and Chris Hackney (Angelica) of Wildomar, CA; his grandchildren, Kyle, Kam, Isela, Mackenzie, Christopher, Maxwell and Adriana; and his sibling's children, Sheri Wolfe (Dave), Shellie Hackney and Adam Davis (Terri).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Torbert Funeral Chapel (1145 E Lebanon Rd, Dover, DE 19901). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center.
