He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Pettit and Carrie Pettit; and his son Timothy P. Pettit. He is survived by: his wife Irene Pettit of Hartly, DE; his brother Charles Pettit Jr. of Valrico, FL; and his children, Bonnie Graves of Hartly, DE, Robin Jurgens of Hartly, DE, James Pettit of Macott, FL and Mark Pettit of Newton, NC.. He is also survived by his 21 grandchildren.
