He is also survived by relatives, friends.

“Mr. Martin you were one of my favorite teachers at William Henry and one of the few black men I would have teaching me throughout my years as a student. Thank you for teaching me how to play chess and believing in me. Your impact on me in the 6th grade is memorable and often a topic of discussion with my family. You taught so many of us in Dover, you seemed larger than life. Thank you for being the positive role model we needed. The District will not be the same without you.”
