He was predeceased by: his parents, William A Byler and Mary Ann Byler (Yoder); his wife Amanda Bontrager; his daughters, Alta Nisly and Phyllis Maust; and his grandchildren, Baby Lapp, Ericka Byler and Steven Christophel.
He is survived by: his children, Ida Mae Lapp, Esther Bontrager Kurtz, Mary Ann Christophel (Kirk), Erma Yoder (Paul), Joseph Byler (Naomi), Sharon Kropf (Harold) and Lyndon Byler (Jolene); and his half-brother Bennie Byler. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.
