He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Atkinson and Mae Atkinson (Halladay); and his sister Pearl Norman. He is survived by: his son Vernard H. Atkinson II; and his siblings, Alvin Atkinson, Jr., Norma Crisco and Irene Gordon.
