He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah Mitchell Marvel; his children, Ernest Marvel, Jr., Benjamin Joseph Marvel and Kathy Carey; and his siblings, Edna Gray, Kendall Marvel, Raymond Marvel, Elwood Marvel and Elva Brittingham.
He is survived by: his caregiver Keith Marvel; his grandsons, Shane Murray, Donnie Carey and Bryan Marvel; his great grandchildren, Lara Carey and Aubrey Marvel; his sisters, Marguerite Stevens and Hilda Parker; and his pet Ezmerelda.
