She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard C. Greig Sr. and Margaret M. Greig (Sipple); her husband John M. Hitchens Jr.; her former husband Calvin S. Fowler; her siblings, Leonard Jr. (Mae), William (Marie), Henry (Dolly), Blaine (Mary), Donald (Mary Ann), Clarence (Judy) and Margie Fritz (Ernest); and her in-laws, Frank, Ella, Kathleen, Palmer Fowler and Lewis Donovan.
She is survived by: her daughters, Rebecca Bunting (Stanley) and Debra Beasley (Mike Roach); her grandchildren, Christopher Bunting, Jessica Hazzard (Allen), Lance Beasley (Zenab) and Laurin Beasley (David Seward); her great grandchildren, Abby Hazzard, Ella Bunting, Phillip Beasley and Sophie Beasley; her sisters, Nancy Hetz, Sandra Wilhelm (Dale), Clara Miller (Wayne) and Carol Hershberger (Philip); and her stepdaughters, Shirley Hitchens, Peggy Coulbourne (Jim) and Becky Perry. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church (22860 Dupont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 22860 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, Delaware, 19947, in Bernice's memory.
